I thought that I would share my recent experience regarding the use of a "Report Unsafe Driving" form on the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) website (http://www.dps.state.mn.us/patrol/unsafe/).
I was on a Twin Cities Bicycling Club ride when a motorist was intentionally driving unsafe.... evidently in an effort to just mess with me and the four others who were riding with me. It started with the driver pulling forward at a stop sign as if to pull out in front of us.... while we were descending at about 25 mph. It ended with our group being followed for a quarter mile or so while the driver honked the horn. Foolish stuff for sure... yet too dangerous for my liking. I took the license number and filled out the form on the DPS website.
A couple of weeks later I received a letter from the Minnesota State Patrol indicating that the information I reported allowed the officers to contact the owner of the vehicle and advise them of my observations and complaints. It was nice to get an acknowledgement from the State Patrol and to see that the owner of the vehicle was contacted.
You might consider book-marking this site for future use.
Ride Safe,
