Mississippi Headwaters Hostel Winter Trip (X-C ski, hike)

Annual winter trip to HI-AYH Mississippi Headwaters Hostel in Itasca State Park. A yearly favorite to a pristine location. Cross-country skiing on over 30 miles of groomed trails, hiking, snowshoeing, and various indoor and outdoor activities. (We always hope for good snow, but remember last year? Natchez Trace Tour

The Trace ride starts at the Father Ryan House overlooking the Gulf in Biloxi (read: fancy place) and heads west to Port Gibson just north of Natchez. After spending two days at a B&B in Port Gibson, we will make our way along the Trace and stay at more pedestrian places until we reach the hills of Tennessee. There we will again luxuriate at two B&B's before packing our gear.

Bikin' N Brainerd Trip

Spend Mother's day and the fishing operner weekend on rides in the "North Country", and experience the unique setting, sumptuous meals, and the personal attention of Lost Lake Lodge. "Northern Exposure - MN " - Biwabik, MN

Experience Superior National Forest. You can choose to ride 1, 2, 3, or 4 days of this series - no pre-registration. At the leader's briefing receive a full color brochure of maps for the Mesabi Trail and the city. This area is hilly to rolling terrain with several lakes. There is a mixture of deep forest and open wilderness, and we'll ride over the continental divide on "the roads where the dogs sleep" because there's so little traffic!

Weekend On Wheels (WOW) - Winona, MN

This will be based at Winona State University this year.  Both mountain bike and road bike routes will be a part of the 2001 WOW.  Initial plans include a Friday ride from the Twin Cities to Winona.  With any luck, Saturday dinner will be held on a Mississippi Riverboat.

Bicycle Duluth with Tom & Dona Devine

Four glorious days of biking in Duluth. We will bike from Duluth to Two Harbors for lunch and back one day. Duluth to Carlton (for lunch) on the Munger Trail on another plus 2 other days of riding the back roads of Duluth. Bernie Kalkenbrenner (Duluth resident) has come up with a couple of good routes for the other two days. You will be on your own for accommodations. Come for 1 day or come for all 4. It's not the same weekend as the "Blues Festival" so it should be easier to make reservations. Watch for details about meeting times and places in the July Ride Schedule.

"Southern Exposure - MN" - Mankato, MN -

You can choose to ride 1, 2, or 3 days of this series - no pre-registration necessary. Arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to each days' depart time for the leader's briefing & to receive a full color brochure of maps for local paved trails and the city. You can choose either the B or A/B distance/terrain option. The B routes are designed for a social group of cyclists to experience the smooth pavement of the trails & low traffic roads that feature a variety of scenery through wilderness areas, wooded ravines & vistas overlooking charming small towns. The A/B routes are training favorites of the local racing cyclists that include various climbs and turns provided by the two river valleys as well as traightways begging to be hammered. Mankato is about 1 1/2 hours (80 miles) southwest from the Twin Cities. You can choose to "motel it" or stay at a nearby campground. Experience the Minnesota River's bend.

BIG THRILLS IN THE BLACK HILLS.

Big Thrills in the Black Hills. Black spruce, hills, and Spearfish Canyon, oh my. Enjoy the wonders of this sacred land after the Winnebagos go home. Mileage is variable (maximum of 60 mi/day) with half the days involving looped routes from our places of abode. Accommodations include B&Bs, lodges and cabins.
$450 includes some suppers, most breakfasts, and SAG and transportation. Limit 12 riders. Deposit: $100.
